Companies that provide background screening services (and their clients!) must comply with relevant Data Privacy laws and regulations, chief among them is the provision by each subject of a valid Letter of Authorization (LOA). Screening companies who conduct checks without a signed LOA from the subject exposes itself AND its client to litigation.
